Also, I just realized Jeopardy! is on at 3:00*

Well, I fought a good fight for a while, but the cold was winning, so I finally gave in and left work early yesterday and also stayed home from work today. And while that whole "when life hands you lemons" mindset tells me to enjoy an excuse to relax without guilt, to realize that an aching head and a fever are perfectly good reasons to spend an entire day alternating between my couch and my bed, I still fear an intervention may be in order. Why?

Five reasons it's a good thing I'm not home during the day every day.

1. Ellen
2. Gilmore Girls and Full House reruns on ABC Family
3. Little House on the Prairie on the Hallmark channel
4. HGTV
5. Oprah

People, I didn't even remember I had ABC Family or the Hallmark channel. I have got to rally myself into an upright position and leave the house soon.

On the up and productive side, I have finally almost finished hand-stitching the binding on my quilt. If this cold doesn't let up soon, I may even finish those damn socks as well. We shall see.

* Ooh! But it's on opposite back-to-back episodes of What I Like About You! I really, really shouldn't have consulted the Yahoo TV listings today.

ABC Family! Home of daytime reruns of Full House! Mmm, now I want to take a sick day.

I can't believe you're reading Bel Canto and choosing to watch TV instead!

Okay, I probably would have done the same thing...

Man, I love Little House!

A friend just loaned me the first season of Gilmore Girls...but I am keeping it in the trunk of my car until finals are over (next week), otherwise I won't get anything done.

When I am sick, I do not get up early enough to watch Ellen. =)

Little House is also on the Hallmark channel at 6AM Saturdays (you know, in case I'm not the only one up and about at that time on the weekends). They seem to be into 'the dark years' right now, though. The last few I've seen have involved guns, hostages or death.

Aww...Little House reruns. They remind me of a simpler time, when life moved at a slower pace. You know...the 1970s. Hee.

On the rare occasion I find myself at home during the day, able to watch TV, I also find that my watching standards are much lower. I will watch anything.

Welcome to my world/nightmare. Also, Hallmark channel used to show Columbo, but apparently it no longer does, which makes it obsolete in my eyes.

You are old.

That is all.

I have been Tivo-ing Gilmore Girls since I discovered it was on ABC Family at 5pm daily. I think I missed the first two seasons, but will hopefully catch those if they start over from the beginning.

One day last week I realized that my Tivo was not recording at 5:15. ACK! I furiously had to restart the Tivo and then record what was left of GG. It threw off my entire evening. I missed 19 minutes of GG. My life has felt incomplete ever since.

Jess--I was actually a little embarrassed about watching the back-to-back episodes of Full House. Thank you for telling me you would have watched them too. :-)

Noelle--I know; I felt that was sort of wrong, too. In my defense, my head hurt and watching TV requires less potentially painful focus than reading does. Besides that, as Lorelei said on one of the TWO episodes of Gilmore Girls I caught, "watching a lot of TV is the only good part of being sick!"

Pants--That's probably a wise move. I admire your restraint.

Jess--Oh, you're a new Jess! I thought it was unusual that my usual Jess commented twice. Hi! I've gotten sucked into bad Lifetime movies several times. Friday was not one of them, however.

Jess again--Thanks. :-)

R--I usually don't either. Since I slept for three hours Thursday afternoon and then went to bed again at 9:30 Thursday night, though, I managed to wake up at 8:59 the next morning--just in time to watch Ellen. :-)

3Cs--I don't remember the last time I was up at 6:00 a.m. on a Saturday, much less up and just casually watching TV (rather than scrambling to be someplace ungodly early). Now if you'd said 6:00 P.M., I might have been interested in the tip. ;-)

Liz--One thing I noticed during my Little House viewing on Friday is that it's much more religious than I remembered. I guess I conveniently forgot about that part.

Aaron--I don't know that I would have pegged you as a Columbo guy. But then, I WOULD have pegged you as a superhero movie guy, so you're full of surprises, I guess.

Poppy--I'm not sure exactly which element of that post makes me old, but you are mean. Also we are THE SAME AGE, my friend.

Pam--Ack! That is a tragedy indeed. I'm glad you've carried on.

Young at heart, old in the bones.

Oh, don't forget Scrubs at noon and Friends at 2:30. I have become an expert on daytime TV, even while avoiding the soaps.

I really, really wish I were home sick today. All the TV I'm missing! And my bed! Oh, my bed.

Hope you're feeling better.

Hopefully by now the cold has run it's course and you can leave the Hallmark channel to the elderly and housewives.
