I love a good bandwagon

Apparently it is is Delurking Day again. I don't know who decides on and schedules these sorts of things or if there's an official Blogger's Calendar to mark important "let's all do this" events, but I do selectively enjoy being a joiner, so count me in, I say. Also, if there is such a calendar, I would very much like to know about it, as I somehow missed National Drunk Blogging Day last year, and that simply cannot happen again.

In any case, back to Delurk Day (or, The Great Mofo Delurk, which is actually a much better name than any of the previous similar events I've seen documented). I would very much love it if any of you fine folks who pop in here regularly would say hi and make yourself known. Who are you, and where did you come from? Sydney, Australia! I see you in my stats; however did you find me? England! Represent! Friends in Ohio! How's it going out there?

The Great Mofo Delurk 2007

Seriously, humor me and leave a comment, would you please? Just say hello... tell me a joke... tell me what you're wearing today... Whatever floats your proverbial boat. Thanks, all!

From Milwaukee, WI:
Not even sure how I stumbled across your blog anymore. Been lurking for quite a few months. My IP may come from MN since I lurk from work and my parent company is out of the Twin Cities. I really love the Friday Fives. I don't have a true joke off the top of my head, but I am currently looking at a bumpersticker given to me by my boss that reads "What would scooby do?"

3carnations said...

I'm not a lurker by any means. You're just asking for the weirdos to come out of the woodwork by asking people what they're wearing...

-R- said...

Will you e-mail me when it is national drunk posting day?

Today I am wearing my black patent flats (that I call my tuxedo shoes because I am a loser), black pants, a black shirt, and a gray jacket. I am so colorful today! But I am wearing Neutrogena lip gloss in Sparkle that you recommended, so I think that makes up for all the black. Umm, hi, this comment totally makes me look like a stalker that shares way too much information.

I'm definitely not delurking, because I never was lurking. But sometimes I'm kind of a motherfucker, so one out of two ain't bad, right?

Jarod said...

I've commented before, but not many, so I'm not sure if I would considered a lurker. But lets pretend I am and I'm officially saying "hi".
Found you through Mischievious Muse a while back, I believe.
For the joke...How about a Cowboy, a Priest and a Rabbi walk into a bar. Bartender says, "What is this, a joke?" (rimshot)

Anonymous said...

Wow, I never even heard that there was a Drunk Blogging Day. Maybe we should just make our own? We could probably get a good three or four other people to do it...

Paisley said...

Not a lurker, but I'll tell you the ONLY joke I can ever remember:

What do you call a dog with short legs and steel balls?

Wait for it

wait for it

SPARKY!

lizgwiz said...

You don't really want to hear about my clothes, do you? Let's just pretend I'm covered in sequins and rocking a feather boa. Hee.

Stefanie said...

Nicki--Yay; first comment and it really IS a lurker! Thanks for commenting. :-) Also, I'm not so sure doing what Scooby'd do is the best advice in any situation.

3Cs--Well, I didn't ask for photos, so I figured we're all safe.

R--If I don't miss National Drunk Posting Day again myself, I will surely fill you in. Also, how do you like the lip gloss??

Nabbalicious--Ha. That's one way to look at it, I guess.

Jarod--Hi back at you. You've also helped answer another question I was going to pose, which is do any MEN read my blog? (It's usually just a girl party here.)

NPW--Darren and Nabbalicious and I discussed that last year (declaring our own drunk blogging day). I think Nabbs was even going to come up with a tagline and logo! Anyway, I'm game...

Paisley--The only joke I can ever remember is this: Why didn't the skeleton ask his girlfriend to the dance? ... Because he didn't have any guts! (Um, yeah. I think I got that off a Laffy Taffy wrapper years ago.)

Liz--I have never met you, so I pretty much ALWAYS picture you in sequins and a feather boa. ;-)

metalia said...

I have an awful joke about an interrupting cow, but i doubt you want to hear that, right? So why don't I just tell you what I'm wearing? It's a lovely grey t-shirt, piared with black velour sweats, topped off with a retro apron. HAWT.

Anonymous said...

I'll admit it -- I'm a lurker. I'm a lurker wearing a "Rock out with your cupcake out" Cupcake Royale t-shirt and jeans, sitting at my desk in Seattle, WA, reading your delicious blog.

-wendy

PS: I think I caught the Arcade Fire/LCD System show a few days before you caught them, but I was fortunate to have a nice seat. T'was far away, but better than standing for 3 hours. Kick ass show.

Anonymous said...

Wait...I was? I could have been very drunk when I said that, because I don't remember! Oh, wait. Wasn't it going to be something like, "I'm not as blog as you drunk I am"?

Hmmm...vague recollections...

Maybe it's time to lay off the sauce.

No, that's crazy talk! A far better solution would be to tattoo promises I make while drunk onto my person so I can follow through once sober.

Anonymous said...

P.S. Metalia, is that the knock-knock joke? That one always makes me laugh way more than it should!

Stefanie said...

Metalia--An apron? And velour sweat pants? I am guessing you're not at work this afternoon then, huh? Lucky girl.

Wendy--Hi! Thanks for delurking! Yeah, it's a toss-up with the seats vs. floor tickets. On one hand, my legs and back are getting too damn old to stand up all night, but on the other hand, you really do catch more of the crowd energy and feel more a part of the show when you're up front. Dilemmas, dilemmas.

Nabb--I believe that was it, yes. :-) And your tattoo idea amuses me no end, but I won't hold you to it.

Nabb (again) and Metalia--OK, now you HAVE to tell me the joke!

-R- said...

I thought Red at The Cupcake Tent was the one who came up with the drunk blogging idea. Or maybe I was just drunk. I think we should do it and start an internet revolution!

Stefanie said...

R--Actually, I think I emailed a bunch of you (I think specifically Red, Nabb, Darren, you, Peach, GG, and maybe a couple others) when I heard about it. Maybe Red mentioned it, too, though. I do remember Darren's reply was my favorite: "Here at 'Look at Me,' EVERY day is drunk blogging day!" he said. :-) Oh, I miss Darren's blog...

Jarod said...

I did notice it was sort of a "girl party" here, as you said. I'm happy to add some comments about explosions or fish-guts if you ever need them. Just here to help!

I want a proverbial boat!

That joke is from South Park many, many years ago. I know it was many years ago, because I stopped watching that show many years ago. Moo.

Aloha! Happy Delurking Day.

My fun fact for the day is: on Friday I am going to a wedding in St. Paul, as I've mentioned. The bride is a good friend from junior high and high school. The groom works for a certain Mpls-based discount retail chain that has brought new meaning to the red shirt-khaki pants ensemble. His specialty? Toilet seats. They have a team at corporate who just. deals. with. toilet. seats.

That's staggering to me.

Mair said...

Hola! Today I wore very stinky shoes to work that I can't bear to throw away. Then I came home and immediately put on my pajamas. Whee!

Courtney said...

Hi Stefanie, I admit it, I'm a lurker. Will you forgive me if I tell you I'm wearing a purple top, black pants, and heels that hurt my feet?

Jess said...

From DC, though I think I comment sometimes. Honestly no longer remember how I found your blog. But I like it, and that's what counts.

Stefanie said...

Jarod--Maybe it's all the girly pink flowers that are scaring the boys away? Yet another reason to update my template finally one of these days...

Abbers--I proverbially bestow you one. (I don't really know what that means; I just wasn't sure what to reply to you.) :-)

3Cs--OK, someone really needs to tell that joke.

L Sass--Oh my. Wouldn't you like to have that on YOUR resume?? Odd. Very odd. Also, have fun at the wedding, and good luck with the marathon!

Malia--I wore stinky shoes yesterday. Time to toss them in the freezer, perhaps?

Courtney--I will indeed forgive you. Thank you for commenting, and I'm sorry your feet hurt. :-)

Stefanie said...

Oops. Hi Jess. You must have slipped through while I was typing. I have indeed seen you here a few times. I must check out your blog as well... Thanks for commenting!

Anonymous said...

Okay, I honestly can't remember whether I've ever commented or not! I think I may in fact be a lurker.

An Ohio Lurker at that.

My kitties love your blog.

HELLO, WORLD!

I'M NEW TO THE INTERWEB

I LIKE PUPPIES

AND SHORT STORIES

AND BURBON\\\OOPS< DID I MISSPELL THAT?

(That was for you, my favorite grammar and spelling queen. :)

Ah, so appropriate, since I didn't know what to say in the first place.

But you must admit, a Proverbial Boat sounds kind of lovely, doesn't it?

Lord. This comment proves, yet again, that I should really lay off the coffee. And maybe the whole "waking up" thing, too.

Hi! I'm double_g from -R-'s blog, and I must have linked here several months ago but never commented. I used to live in California, but I've recently moved to Massachusetts. (I also have midwestern roots.) I enjoy your wit and humor, and recently read Eat Pray Love based at least partially on your recommendation. (Loved it!) Happy delurking day!

Wisconsin lurker- always reading- but commenting? Not so much!

Stacey Brandow said...

What did one casket say to the casket? Is that you coffin?

Hehehee. Yeah, not funny.

Today I'm wearing a white button up shirt that has cute stitching detail around the buttons and I'm so glad I get tell you because I looked for a new white button up shirt I liked for a long time, anyway with a a grey sweater vest, jeans, and black flats.

I'm not lurker, I just really wanted to talk about my shirt. And tell you that really funny joke. ;)

Stacey Brandow said...

um oops, OTHER casket and I have an extra "a" in the wrong area, it's supposed to be after not and before lurker but I was just so excited about the shirt!

Stefanie said...

Kelli--And my blog loves your kitties. :-) Thanks for delurking!

Poppy--You are weird. That is all. ;-)

Abbers--A proverbial boat, much like an imaginary or hypothetical boat, would probably be a lot less work than a real boat. Proverbial boats for all! (Um, yeah. I haven't even HAD any coffee. Maybe that's the problem...)

Double_G--Oh my gosh; I definitely know of you from R's blog, but I had no idea whatsoever you read mine. (See? This is the point of delurk day!) :-) Glad you liked the book!

Monkey--I lurk on your blog more than I comment, too, so shame on me as well. Go Wisconsin! (I don't know what that means, really; I just like it when people mention my home state, I guess.)

BMC--Hey. That's another Laffy Taffy-worthy one. And I think you should post a photo of you in the shirt. It sounds like a very cute outfit. :-)

Okay...delurking from Ohio.

Why did the blonde stop making kool-aid?

Because she couldn't get two quarts of water in that little itty bitty packet!

That's all I've got!

Wow. I didn't know there was a national day for this stuff.

Sheesh I'm always a day late and a euro short. Well more than just "a" euro since the damn dollar won't stop falling.

But I digress.

Meredith--Hi! I think you delurked once before... when I asked who all my mysterious Ohio readers were! Thanks for commenting again!

Dr. Syn--Ooh; another brand new commenter. This is fun! Thanks for reading.

Babs--He makes me swoon, too. You'll have to fight me for him. ;-)

Holly--Cool. Glad you were happy to see your city mentioned, rather than paranoid that I am "watching" you... :-)

Funky B--You are one step ahead of the trend and you don't even know it.

Stinkypaw--And good morning to you from Minnesota!

Sognatrice--Ciao right back at you, my friend.

3carnations said...

Man! 40+ comments? You are a record breaker.

OKI, the joke is much better out loud, so you might have to say it to make it work:

Knock knock

Who's there?

Interrupting cow.

Interrupting cow wh--- (person gets cut off by joke teller saying...)

Moo!

MplsMel said...

A day late, but I am delurking from Los Angeles. I found you though Steve's blog (www.stevelyon.com). I just moved here from Minneapolis and have read your blog for a while. I always enjoy it!

Claire said...

I found you through WhiskeyMarie's blog; I can't even remember how I found hers. Despite swearing that I was finished, FINISHED dammit, with my summer clothes, I'm wearing a brown linen skirt, sheer brown voile blouse with a tank underneath and sandals because it's almost 90 degrees here (Maryland). Great blog!

Anonymous said...

Single-commenter, but I figure that's close to lurking. I found you via -R-, am still in my gym clothes (mmmm), and come bearing my most favorite joke, which is fun AND appropriate for all audiences:

Q: Where do generals keep their armies?

A: Up their sleevies!

Haaa. Ahem. I have three younger sisters, okay? That joke KILLS with the under-ten set.

--Shana in Missouri

P.S. Verification word is "uunfuttz." I'm totally making up a definition and working into my daily vocab.

Stefanie said...

3Cs--I know! This is so much fun! :-) We should have delurk day more often. And thank you for finally telling the joke. Stupid or not, it made me laugh.

MplsMel--Hello! I remember you from Steve's blog, too. You're a knitter as well, aren't you?

CDP--I've decided I'm done with my summer clothes for the year, too, but I am still wearing sandals anyway. It wasn't 90 here today, but 75 is still plenty too warm for proper shoes.

Shana--Ha! OK, that was funny. Yes, I am a dork who apparently has the sense of humor of a ten-year-old. Thanks for commenting. :-)

I'm a couple days late & always dollars short, but I'm de-lurking now. I think I found you through a friend of a friend's website? Not sure.

You entertain and inform and your entries sometimes hit far too close to home (which is Rochester, NY). Your entries on your gym experiences usually leave me giggling and feeling your pain too.

I've even borrowed your idea for the Friday Fives on my own blog. Hope you don't mind.

Anonymous said...

Looks like my blog URL didn't take. Let's try that again.

Anonymous said...

Oh goodness, I'm really not an idiot. Stefanie if you want to edit my dumb multiple entries to fix my blog URL, feel free!

Stefanie said...

Pam--Hee. I believe you that you're not an idiot. Unfortunately, as I've never implemented anything beyond Blogger's basic commenting capabilities, I can't edit people's comments. But I shall provide your link again here, to make doubly sure it's accessible. Everyone, here is Pam's site. :-)

And of course it's cool with me to take the Friday Fives thing and run with it. I might even steal your topic for this week and use it myself some week.

Also, thank you for commenting, even though you said on your own blog that you didn't want to! ;-)

nro said...

i am so late in delurking... and i have created a 'lurking' category in my google reader (which, of course, is where your blog is located), so when i read your post, i KNEW it applied to me. :) i am proud to announce that i am wearing boots today (and some other articles, as well), but the first day of boots! yeah! it is finally fall in california! i have no idea how i came to find you, benn lurking so long now...

Stefanie said...

NRO--Google Reader lets you categorize things?? What else am I missing out on using Bloglines instead?

Also, yay for boot weather! :-)

I'm sorry to be extremely late to the delurker party. As an English major, I always enjoy people who insist on correct punctuation and grammar. Best wishes and I look forward to continued reading. Have a good one. (J/K - I read that you hated that).
