Happy Earth Day

At my office, we celebrated by turning on the air conditioner. In April. In Minnesota. When it's 64 degrees outside.

The environment is overrated anyway, right?

My office can top that one. Last week, we got these happy green signs in the elevator lobby suggesting that people should hold doors for their cow-orkers to fit more people onto each elevator and save energy.

Like we don't do that already and needed a sign.

All the while, one of the elevators was broken in such a way that it ran down to P3 and up to 3 on a continuous loop nonstop all by itself for 4 days straight before someone came out to fix it.

As I observed somewhere else today, the zombies will get us long before the melting glaciers, so don't fret.

My office celebrated with air conditioning today too! It was great...so cold I had wore my gym socks to keep my feet warm and kept a promotional t-shirt on my lap like a blanket.

That's classic.

How are you liking Bel Canto? I finished it last year...struggled *a lot* to get into it (put it down for a year I think) but when I picked it back up I really liked it and wondered what the hell my problem was. Anyway, I hope you're enjoying it :)

That is something that I hate in the summer. You get up, dress for 85 degree weather, and then walk into a 65 degree office. There is no reason we need to be that cold, ever. I'm starting the 73 degree revolution today!

My apartment neighbors do that. Rather than just open a couple windows to cool off, they let the AC kick on.

Most people just don't get it.

Oy.

That is all.

That's ridiculous. Open a window, for Earth's sake!

It's been well into the 80s here, and I still haven't kicked on my home a/c. The work a/c I've used a bit...but it's programmed so that when we leave the temp bumps back up automatically. And actually, we have 3 or 4 different thermostats here, small though we are. Which is a blessing, since the super-skinny co-worker who wears shorts and flip-flops and sits over a space heater all summer is on a different thermostat than me. I can't even stand near her desk some days.

Steve--Well, that makes sense...

Aaron--Oh, well thanks. That IS much less worrisome...

Pants--I'm tempted to bring a blanket in, actually. That'd probably be a better plan than a space heater.

Sognatrice--I'm not very far into it yet, but it came to me with good recommendations, so I'm hoping it doesn't disappoint! We shall see.

Noelle--Word. I'll join the revolution with you.

Mickey and Courtney--I know! And in my building, we actually even HAVE windows! (Ones that open and everything!) I know that's not the case in a lot of offices, but in ours, it is. No need for AC yet!!

Lara--Word. That is all.

Liz--My home ACs are still in the basement. I won't be needing those units for quite some time yet.

I don't even LIKE air conditioning. But today it is supposed to be 80 in NYC and my building still has the heat on.
