My fifteen minutes of really marginal fame

If you live in the Twin Cities (as I think only about four of my somewhat regular readers do), you can catch a blurry, distant photo of me in the Star Tribune today (as part of this article on "Digital Age crafting"). Fear not, however, non-locals. You don't have to miss out on my exciting media debut! The Web site contains an accompanying slide show in which yours truly is pictured four times. If you want to play a little game of I-spy and try to spot me, check it out here.

And, um, if you don't know me in real life but you manage to snag a copy of today's paper, can you just pretend you didn't see my last name on that photo? I'm really not in the market for a stalker. Thanks.

Very cool! I only spotted you in three pictures, but I think the last few didn't load for me for some reason.

Man, that rubber glove dress freaks me out, but I covet the striped conjoined sock monkeys (although they're kind of freaky too).

You were easy to spot...in spite of yet another person with glasses very similar to yours. Those glasses are all the rage in your state, eh? Probably other places, too, but between you, -R-, and random girl in picture with you...

The dress with the cars on it...If I wore that, my son would never let me out of his sight...rather he'd never let the CARS out of his sight!

3Cs--It's funny you should mention the glasses, because I noticed that night that all but I think two of the approximately 12-15 women there were wearing the nerdy girl glasses. We're a smart bunch, obviously (or just a bunch who likes to *look* like they're smart).

I actually pointed out the glasses thing to the group and they all thought it was pretty funny, but not interesting enough, apparently, to make it into the article. ;-)

Oh, and Other Girl, the very last picture is the fourth one I am in. And everybody is all about Rebecca's sock monkeys. They are pretty damn amusing.

I am glad you linked to that article because I really want to go to that No Coast Craft-o-Rama now! But not to buy that rubber glove dress.

And it is cool that you are in the paper. Sorry, should have mentioned that first.

R--I'm going too! Let me know if you want to coordinate our arrivals to be there at the same time. Otherwise perhaps I'll see you there. Of course, this wouldn't involve the heavy drinking GG said we should partake of on our next meeting, so maybe we're better off alternative-craft-browsing on our own... ;-)

You're famous! That's so cool. The last time I was in the paper, I was crying because I had just lost the district spelling bee.

Nabb--The last time I was in the paper, it was probably for being student of the month... Or, no, actually, it was probably just for graduating from high school. It was a small town; just about everything makes the news there. It's way more exciting to make the Minneapolis paper. :-)

Also, I lost the district spelling bee too! I went out on "pejorative." (I think that is spelled correctly this time.) How about you?

You know what? I have NO idea! I'm kind of ashamed, because everyone remembers the word that felled them! I'll never forget the name of the person who won, though: Fiona Henderson.

But I know who will know...my mom. I'll ask her!

Ha! That's totally you! Nice work.

As I told you, I was recently interviewed by a reporter, and at the end, I asked him if he could go back and take out my last name. He said he wasn't sure if he was allowed to do that! Come on! If Cher and Jackée can do it...

Nabb--That's funny. I should ask MY mom if she remembers the word that felled me. I actually think she probably doesn't.

Darren--What? He should totally have taken your last name out if you'd wanted him to. Was it just that he'd already submitted it or something? I assume if you'd wanted to be first-name-only from the outset, he'd have to let you, right?

What do you mean, going to the No Coast Craft Show wouldn't involve drinking? GIRLS. You zany Minnesotans. Don't you know everything's more fun if you get liquored up first? ;)

I found you in 3 pictures! Very cool!
