200

Well whadda ya know. I've been so preoccupied with this whole post-a-day thing that I completely missed a major milestone here at Stefanie Says. That Wicker Man post? The one unintentionally filled with all sorts of controversy over nakedness and censorship and lack of proper respect for the esteemed Orson Welles? That was actually post #200 on my blog. That's right; it took me damn near a year to get to 100, but only another eight months to double that. Whoo-hoo. Yay me. It is quantity over quality after all, is it not?

I have decided that, in honor of the way I rang in those first 100 posts, I should greet all future such milestones in a similar fashion--i.e., with an inferior (and some would say undrinkable) cocktail. Anyone care to join me for a skim milk White Russian? (Not you, Other Girl. I already know how you feel about mixing vodka and dairy. You can bring your bottle of whiskey and join the party anyway, though, if you'd like.)

Another reason to celebrate? Amy Klobuchar beat Mark "Minnesota's-Most-Congenial-Bigot" Kennedy. Yay, new Senator Klobachar! And in my home district for the House of Reps? Welcome, Minnesota's first black, Muslim representative. You've got some well-respected shoes to fill, but I have hope that you will pull through. Good luck, my man.

WOO HOO! I still have a Republican representing me in the House, but that is ok because I have Amy too!

R! I'm not dissing the White Russians! I love White Russians! It's the White Russians with skim milk (as opposed to cream) that I think are inferior.

Ugh. Michelle Bachman is giving her victory speech right now. What happened there??? I soooo thought Patty Wetterling would pull through. I am sad, but this is local news of no interest to anyone in my comments except you and me. :-(

I should go to bed. I really, really, really hope I will not wake up to another Pawlenty term. Grr.

Hey, happy 200th birthday! Oh, and PS, you can totally come over. I'll kick Wilman's ass if I have to.

It's 9:56 in the morning as I read this, which is a bit early in the day for a drink even for me. But this next sip of coffee goes out to you.

Aaahhh...

Congratulations!

I could not watch any of the coverage of Bachman last night. Hopefully she will only last two years.

What is up with your home state voting against gay marriage and for the death penalty? WTF, Wisconsin?

Thanks, GG and Darren!

R, I know! I'm disturbed and disgusted as well. My heart totally sank when I heard about that. In fact, I was writing about it when your comment came through. I was uncertain whether I should even bother to post it, but since I am doing the post-a-day thing and it won't stay up at the top for long, I figured I would just go with it.

Not only is Keith Ellison Minnesota's first Muslim representative, he's the first Muslim member in all of Congress.

But sorry that we're stuck with Pawlenty, Stef!

You are correct, James. First black rep from MN; first Muslim rep overall. I thought that was the case when I wrote that last night, but I wasn't 100% sure and was, apparently, too lazy to look it up to confirm! ;-)
